There are lots of ways to do that. If you’re going to build an e-commerce site, you might try yahoo’s solution, I’ve used it in the past with great success.

If you’re looking for something that’s super easy to use, but can build a very powerful website for your business, check out Site Build It: http://case-studies.sitesell.com/newsites99.html

I would recommend going for a web hosting service which includes a website builder tool.
This normally comes free with the actual hosting plan.
You would just build your website through your browser and there is no need to download anything to your pc.
You just login, select the look of the website, insert text and images and you would just click on the publish button to get your site published to your domain, internet.

If you use a template you would need some basic knowledge of programmes such as dreamweaver, Photoshop etc in order to customize it to your needs.

    Hope this helps.

You should check out Office Live Small Business. For your first site, it might be the way to go. It’s template based, so you’ll have plenty of options to help execute your vision. You won’t need to know how to code to get the most out of this program. Also, you can choose your own domain name (www.yourname.com). And, it’s extremely inexpensive. Remember, you get what you pay for when you choose a free site, like other people’s ads all over your page. Office Live Small Business is ad free.

Here are some examples of how these small business have used Office Live Small Business with great success: http://smallbusiness.officelive.com/en-us/customer-gallery
