Hey. First of all you need to give me more information. A big thing when applying to colleges is where you live. If you live in California, getting into a University of California (UC) school is MUCH easier. This is because all the University of California schools are public which means the state government gives the colleges money. This means they have to support California kids who live in state. Therefore they have to accept a minimum of 85% or so kids who went to high school in California and they would only have to pay about 10,000$ a year versus a student from Florida who would pay around 25,000$ a year. This means it is harder to get into a UC school if you don’t live in California.

You also need to include the number of advanced classes you have taken, any extra-curricular activities such as sports, clubs, awards, etc. You also want to include if you are of a minority race. Any extra standardized test scores such as SAT 2’s, and AP test scores are helpful to include.

Now as far as business schools go, the only UC school that has an undergraduate business program is UC-Berkeley. Their business program, called the Haas School of Business, is top 5 in the country, and is extremely competitive. You first apply to their arts and sciences school, and then your junior year you apply to the business school. At UC-Berkeley I believe you cannot transfer into their business program, you must have been a student the first two years. Now other UC schools such as UCLA, UC-Santa Barbara, UC-San Diego, UC-Riverside, do not have a business program but offer one business-like major. A couple of the UC schools offer Business Managerial Economics (great if you’re into finance) and other UC schools offer Management Science. If you go on collegeboard.com you can see the majors each college offers and information about each major. There are more University of California schools which you can check out on collegeboard.com. The top 4 UC schools are:

    1.UC-Berkeley
    2.UCLA
    3.UCSD
    4.UCSB

You really can’t go wrong with any of those 4. Now you’re GPA is great and your SAT scores are not bad but not great. If you live in California you should definitely try UCLA, UCSB, and UCSD because they are very good and very beautiful schools. If you don’t live in California, I would still try those but they will be harder to get into.

There are some private schools in California and they do not care which state you live in because they do not receive money from the government:

University of Southern California has a good undergraduate business program. However USC is just as competitive as the top UC schools and just as hard to get into. Also USC is very expensive, and is located in the ghetto of Los Angeles.

Pepperdine University has a solid undergraduate business program and has been unanimously selected as having the most beautiful campus in the country. It is a religious school and is very expensive too.

University of San Diego, Santa Clara University, and University of San Francisco have great business programs and are much easier to get into than the UC schools. They are much smaller and I believe they are religious.

Also remember, every college in California and every college in the U.S offer economics as a major in case you can’t find a school with a business program. A major in economics will get you business jobs.

    Good Luck!

Congratulations, you have a very good GPA & SAT score. After you accomplish this, start thinking about ways you can separate yourself from the competition. Extracurricular activities are very important. Lastly, make sure you want to go to University of california. I know a lot of students that thought they wanted to go to their dream school, but when they got in and went to that school, they were really disappointed. Pay attention to what actual students of University of california are saying. You can get information about the academic requirements here: http://www.unigo.com/university_of_california%2c_santa_barbara/rankings
And I heard that University of California that offers an undergraduate business program.
